CRY OF THE ROOSTER PUPPET THEATER |
| Cry
of the Rooster Puppet Theater presents stories from around the
world using puppretry, masks and movement. Each show is geared
towards a wide age range and many are bilingual.
For the 2005-2006 season, Cry of the Rooster Puppet Theater will
be presenting Box: The True Story of Henry Brown. Box
tells the true story of an American slave who risked his life
in a daring bid for freedom. Based on the autobiography of Henry
Box Brown, this show uses puppets and live music to explore the
motivations of people who risk their lives for the promise of
freedom and a better future. Box is recommended for audiences
8 years and older.
Cry of the Rooster performs high-quality puppet theater for diverse
audiences in Washington schools, libraries, Native American reservations,
migrant labor camps in the Skagit Valley and professional theaters
along the West Coast. The group regularly conducts classes and
workshops in puppetry, mask, and theater arts.

"What an outstanding performance you gave the
Mercer Island Community! It was one of the finest puppet theaters
I have seen. The music, storytelling and creativity with the shadow
puppets culminated in a wonderful experience. I truly appreciated
you answering questions and showing the children how the puppets
were manipulated on the set to create the special effects. The
"afterward" really helped increase the cultural awareness and
understanding of the story and setting."
