NEW THIS YEAR!
If you wish to be part of the 2008 Festival, you can apply online this year for the first time. We will not send out paper applications except by special request. To apply online, just go to our website at www.nwfolklife.org and follow the links to Vendor Applications any time you would like to fill out the application. You will create an account for your business and then enter your application under your own ID and password. If you do not have all the information you need, you can fill it out partially, save it and return later to finish it, using your personal ID and password. The application will not be submitted until you have completed it and pressed the "Submit" button. If you prefer, you can fill out the enclosed application and submit it by mail.

IMPORTANT: Please fill out the back of the application with the description and price of each object shown. Mark each CD, slide or photo with your name and the number of the image corresponding to the description in the application. New applicants must also send a photo or drawing of their booth.

Soaps, body oils or products incorporating fragrances: Since it is important for these kinds of products to be experienced more than just visually, they will be judged on site on jury day, January 19. You may bring a small range of your products to the Folklife office, 158 Thomas St. #32, Seattle on January 19 between 9-10 am. (samples may be picked up between 12-12:30 pm) or you may send them by mail with your application. If you want your mailed samples returned to you, you must include return postage in the package. If you have questions about a product that may fit in this category, please call the Merchant Coordinator at 206-684-7327 or email merchants@nwfolkife.org. We will not accept other categories of products for on-site jurying.

    Jury Criteria:
    • Craft items must be of high quality and made by the artist present at the Festival. Agents are not accepted.
    • Craft items cannot be mass-produced or made by an assembly line process.
    • No t-shirts or sweatshirts accepted.
    • Objects from commercially available kits or patterns are not accepted.

    Important Screening Information:
    • Images presented to the jury must represent the different prices in your overall price range. For example, if your price range is $20 - $500, include one image from the $20 to $70 range, one from the $100 to $200 range and one from the $400 to $500 range.
    • Indicate both the overall price range of your work and the range in which the majority of it falls.
    • Number your images and include a detailed description of each image and the price of each object shown.
    • The inclusion of your retail prices and description of the work is essential. Without them, the jury cannot properly judge your application, and you may be disqualified.
    • Please mark the your slides, photos or CD with your last name or business name. Submissions without your name sometimes cannot be identified and returned to you.
    • Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your materials.
    • If your work is accepted or if you are on the wait-list, your images will be returned in June. If you are not accepted, images will be returned in April. Images not accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope will not be returned.
    • If you present more than one craft, all items must meet the Jury Criteria. Your acceptance depends on all items being approved. If your items differ greatly in quality and appropriateness, the jury may have to reject the entire application.

See application for mailing instructions. You will be notified of the results of the selection process in mid-February, 2008.
