Where
is the Festival?
The Northwest Folklife Festival takes place on the 74-acre
grounds of Seattle
Center (home of the 1962 World's Fair and the Space
Needle) located in the heart of the city (Mercer St.
exit off I-5 in downtown Seattle).

Go
Green
to Folklife! Ride your bike, take the bus, hop on the
Monorail or simply walk to the 2007 Northwest Folklife
Festival. Construction of a garage on Fifth Avenue and
the sale of the 2nd Ave. and John St. lots have reduced
parking at Seattle Center. Pay stations have also reduced
parking opportunities. Driving around looking for parking
is a source of global warming, so eliminate your frustrations,
reduce your expenses and make the world a better place
to live. Leave your car at home.
Riding
your bicycle?
Public
bike racks will be at the following locations:
-NWCT Breezeway, next to Info Booth
-Bagley Roadway, west of the Info Booth
-Gate 2 (at Harrison and Second), east of entrance
-Broad Street, just north of Info Booth
-North side of the Center House, just west of Info Booth
Please
use the racks provided; do NOT lock bikes to fences.
If you must take a car to the Festival, visit Spaceshare.com/folklife to find a carpool buddy and help keep vehicle traffic around Seattle Center to a minimum.
Community Networking: host travelers, meet neighbors.
Find people who love the same arts and music before the Festival starts! If you're local, consider hosting people and performers from out of town. Bashful about trying out a local class or one of the Festival workshops? Find a buddy with whom you can try something new! And as always, you can carpool, take the bus with your neighbors and connect with others in your community at www.spaceshare.com/folklife . |
|
IF YOU'RE GOING TO DRIVE: TRAVEL GREEN!
Are there two people and four seats in your car? At Folklife we're doing our best to hold a green event and are asking that if you drive, please FILL EVERY SEAT (that can be bold instead of caps). Save parking dollars, meet your neighbors, make new friends and come to the Festival together. For information on our FREE rideshare service, visit www.spaceshare.com.
Carpool
Parking Rates
Even though there are more than 6,000 parking spaces
within several blocks of Seattle Center, we encourage
you to carpool. Festival carpool rates in Seattle Center
Lots and Garages, in effect Friday-Monday, are $12 for
1-2 occupant vehicles and $10 with three or more occupants.
Alternate
Routes
Besides the major routes to Seattle Center via the Mercer
Street or Stewart Street exits off I-5, consider using
alternate routes, such as Highway 99, Denny Way or Elliott
Avenue.
Parking
and Access for Physically Challenged Persons
All buildings at Seattle Center are fully accessible.
Disabled parking is available at all lots (if full,
check with attendant).
