All-Star Showcase!

This showcase promises over two hours of fun and innovative childrens’ programming, so bring the family down early and set up your blanket in front of the stage (just leave room for the moshing toddlers in front). Special guests Nukariik, the sister duo Karin and Kathy Kettler, will present the traditional songs and games of the Inuit of far Northern Canada. The Board of Education bring an indie-rock sensibility that speaks perfectly to the sensibilities of kids. Sandy Buchner loves to bring kids up stage to join her songs, and Eric Ode is a well-known childrens’ music performer. Bring your lunch and take some family time at Folklife!

Monday, May 25
11:00-11:40am
Fisher Green Stage
Woody Guthrie Children’s Songs

Well-loved children’s performer, Al Hirsch, leads this song celebration of Woody Guthrie’s timeless children’s songs. Joined by friends Carl Allen and Micki Perry, Al Hirsch will share the pure joy of Woody’s songs for the next generation.

BONUS FRIDAY KIDS WORKSHOPS ON THE INTIMAN COURTYARD

Friday, May 22
5:00-8:00pm
Intiman Choral Courtyard

Join Kent Stevens of the Giddens’ School Singers for a wonderful workshop on children’s songs of social harmony and joy. The Intiman Choral Courtyard is Folkife’s home for participatory singing. Kent Stevenson’s workshop will be followed by a Mad-Lib Songwriting Workshop from veteran street performer Greg Spence Wolf.
