Tribal & Fusion BellydanceSaturday, May 23, 7:00 - 10:00 pm
International Dance Stage
Tribal and fusion bellydance artists draw inspiration from many cultures and dance styles to create a modern fusion of ancient dance. While creating new traditions for future generations to adapt, we honor the spirit of the tribes and traditions of women who danced before us. The performances are exotic yet strangely familiar. We are seeking an ethereal moment, a spark of creation by evolving and pushing boundaries. What you see today may never happen again.
The 2009 Tribal & Fusion Bellydance Showcase features these eight artists: life-affirming and beautiful Gypsy Caravan; Raqs Serpentine honoring the traditions of the dance and its continuing evolution; Skin Deep exploring the Gypsy Dances of the Romany Trail; explosive entertainment of the TriBellas; the signature improvisational style of inFusion Tribal; hear the hearts speak in the dance of Gypsy Fire;
the beautiful elegance and exquisite techniqueof Aubre, and internationally renowned belly dance company The Indigo with their new knockdown revue
