April 11, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

*** FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP***

Cultural Inception: An Intergenerational Journey Through Hip-Hop and Poetry is a workshop that provides a way for both youth and adult community members to discuss their knowledge and relationship to issues of class and race. By engaging with selected pieces of hip-hop lyrics and poetry, participants will connect their individual and collective experiences to history and to current issues in society.

The goal is for community members to recognize the power of language and knowledge outside of the classroom, and how it has the ability to promote community and social progress.

The workshop will be facilitated by Nafasi Ferrell who is a 2nd year graduate student of Cultural Studies at the University of Washington Bothell
