Cultural Focus “Youth Speaks Seattle Open Mic #BlackLivesMatters “

April 19, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

*NOTE: usually on the 1st sunday! (we made a switch in April because of Easter. 3rd Sunday for only this month)*

Youth Speaks Spokes want to create space at our open mic to honor the #BlackLivesMatter movement. This open mic is inspired by the the protests, rallies and resistance. In this moment, we will not be silent, we will be resilient. Through art and discussion, we wish to bring awareness to our communities about racist police brutality and the injustices of the criminal “justice” system.

So, please bring any poems, songs, art, dance and verses that speak to this theme of resistance.

In that spirit, we want to celebrate Black voices and leadership with two fierce features:
Acacia Salisbury
Nikkita Oliver
