Los Rebeldes de la Cueca at FIUTS CulturalFest 2019
February 2 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm$15
Los Rebeldes de la Cueca brings the joy of four festive traditional dances from northern Chile. El Huayno, el Cachimbo, and la Cacharpaya celebrate the Pachamama or Mother Earth in the Chilean Andes. These are characterized by colorful outfits, wind and percussion instruments, and an environment full of energy and happiness. Our last dance, La Diablada, is a traditional piece danced at the most important religious festivity in Chile. Presented for the first time in the Pacific Northwest, La Diablada is a representation of the fight between good and evil, with characters that include devils, angels, animals and natives. The mask of the diablo (devil) and the movements are the highlights of this dance.
