Tannahill Weavers in Concert
April 13 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm$12 – $25
The Seattle Folklore Society is pleased to present in concert the award winning reknowned Scottish trad band the Tannahill Weavers, on Saturday, April 13th, 7:30pm, at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave N. in Seattle.
The Tannahills are known for their all Scottish repertoire and infectious high energy on rousing jigs, reels, and songs from guitarist Roy Gullane; flute, tinwhistles, and bodhran by Phil Smillie; new fiddler Malcolm Bushby; and piper Mike Katz, ex piper from Battle field Band. As the Winnipeg Free Press noted, “The Tannahill Weavers – properly harnessed – could probably power an entire city for a year on the strength of last night’s concert alone. The music may be old time Celtic, but the drive and enthusiasm are akin to straight ahead rock and roll.” every time they go on tour in the States.”
Their musicianship has only deepened and expanded over the years, culminating in awards and their induction into the Scottish Trad Music Hall of Fame. Together they skillfully execute old favorites and introduce new pieces destined to become favorites, such as the soulful and beautiful song, “The Great Ships. ”
