Bellingham, WA (Stomp-Grass / Americana / Rock)

New album “Fathoms” hype from What’s Up Magazine:

Formed in Bellingham, Washington in March 2010, Polecat has quickly established itself throughout the West, with three records and over 300 shows in three years. Their unique instrumentation is comprised of Karl Olson (drums), Jeremy Elliott (electric guitar and vocals), Aaron Guest (vocals and 12-string guitar), Cayley Schmid (fiddle), and Richard Reeves (upright bass). This enables them to seamlessly blend genres including bluegrass, country, celtic, rock, and world music into their sound. “The core audience of Polecat is, well, everybody. There is a sense of mass appeal attached to Polecat for it’s unique take on bluegrass, as well as an acknowledged respect for their honest approach to their genre” (H. Nightbert, What’s Up! Magazine, June 2010).

Aside from their self-titled E.P. and full length albums ‘Fire on the Hill’ and ‘Fathoms’, one of the best aspects of Polecat is their live show. Their music celebrates life, love, and good times, and it reflects on the faces of the players and their audience. Polecat has shared the stage with several nationally acclaimed acts, including The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Infamous Stringdusters, Sam Bush Band, The Hackensaw Boys, The Moondoogies, Fruition and Trampled by Turtles.

The Giraffe Dodgers w/ Allie Kral (of CORNMEAL)

Portland, OR (Newgrass/ Progressive Bluegrass)

Born on a steamy summer night in Portland, OR in 2011, The Giraffe Dodgers came together with the goal to progress the acoustic music we all know and love into a hybrid of bluegrass, funk, jazz and folk. Mandolin player Ben Larsen and guitarist Austin Moore began playing music together in 2006.

Over the past few years they have grown together musically in a number of setting culminating with the Giraffes, their most recent project. Bass wizard Rowan Cobb expressed interest in working with the two early in 2011 and after a few exciting jams, drums were on the mind. Drummer Forest Carter, known for his tasty fills and impeccable good looks was the obvious first choice and thus the Giraffe Dodgers were born.

The Giraffe Dodgers music focuses on instrumental newgrass (a term coined by Sam Bush and Bela Fleck in the Newgrass Revival), the song writing of Ben Larsen, and the instrumental composition of Austin Moore. They also play a range of covers from the likes of Paul Simon to traditional melodies arranged for an electric style band. The Giraffe Dodgers are sure to get your feet moving, your heart warming and your face smiling!

Allie Kral
Portland, OR (Bluegrass / Jamgrass Fiddle)

Best known and revered as the fiddler for the jamgrass band Cornmeal – Allie has also shared the stage with the likes of: Moe., Tea Leaf Green, Railroad Earth, Warren Haynes, Big Head Todd, Great American Taxi, Hot Buttered Rum, Trampled By Turtles, Green Mountain Grass, New Monsoon, Leftover Salmon, among many others!

Most recently, Allie has teamed up with The Giraffe Dodgers to bring even more energy, enthusiasm, virtuosity and smiles to an already explosive newgrass outfit…

Betty and the Boy

Eugene, OR (Folk / Minimalist / Acoustic)

Betty and the Boy originally started as a modest duo with a solid belief in performing original music compositions. Meeting in a small town in Montana and relocating their music to Eugene, Oregon, Bettreena Jaeger and Josh Harvey combine their contrary influences to write and perform their minimalistic melodies on street corners and stages across the Northwest.

With banjo, guitar, mandolin and a variety of other sounds played by new friends living in the Eugene area (Jon Conlon on bass, Michelle Whitlock on violin and Nanci McDonald on cello), these songsters will steal your heart with memorable and haunting ballads about love and loss. Spare, meditative, and poetic, their songs scintillate with grit. Betty and the Boy have given voice to the quirky edges of youth, honing ragged emotion into their artful and spunky new tunes.
